Kausi 2021/22

Firpo on juttujen mukaan jo Englannissa odottelemassa lääkärintarkastusta. Karanteenisäännöstön takia kestää muutaman päivän enemmän kuin yleensä. Veikkaan julkistusta ens viikon aikana
Tää on (taas kerran) ihan huikea kaappaus, jos menee läpi. Ei toki liiemmälti saanut Barcassa peliaikaa, mutta mm. vaihdettiin kentälle ekalla puoliajalla CL-vieraspelissä PSG:tä vastaan ja sai tehtäväkseen vartioida Kylian Mbappea. No, montako kertaa Mbappe meni Firposta ohi loppumatsin aikana? Nolla.

Harkkamatsit on harkkamatseja. Siellä harjoitellaan jotain tiettyjä teemoja, eikä pelata tuloksesta. Viime vuonnakin hävittiin jollekin Stokelle just ennen kauden alkua 3-0.

About sama joukkuehan siellä on kuin viime kaudella.

Avausveikkaus sarja-avaukseen: Meslier - Ayling, Struijk, Cooper, Dallas - Phillips - Raphinha, Rodrigo, Klich, Harrison - Bamford

Transfers/contracts:

  • Marcelo Bielsa's contract extension will be announced before the Manchester United game
  • There will be multiple new player contracts announced in the next few days
  • The lack of transfer activity today was always the plan, as last season's transfer activity was made to last Leeds "two or three seasons"
  • "Significant" instalments from many of last season's transfers have been paid out by Leeds this season, although the club had accounted for these
  • Klaesson was rated just as highly as Meslier when Orta first offered them both as options to Bielsa, two seasons ago
  • Angus Kinnear wouldn't be surprised if Kiko Casilla didn't return after his loan
  • Finding value in youth players is a pillar of the club, whether this means they go through and play for Leeds, or Leeds can sell them on for a substantial fee (eg. similar to Arsenal)
  • The club sees developing youth players as a "two-year process", where players will slowly feature more in the second year, although Lewis Bate is further along than others
  • Leeds are ready to 'pounce' if any special transfer opportunities arise (eg. Raphinha)
  • Although Kinnear doesn't see a significant amount of transfer business done
  • This summer Leeds can received a number of significant offers and enquiries for both first-team and bench players; none of these offers were entertained at all as the club want to keep the squad together (which he believes the club doesn't get enough credit for)
  • Kalvin is "a long-term pillar for the club", but as he still has three-years left on his deal, they will take time making the right contract offer
  • Leeds were interested in Connor Gallagher but he was not critical to the club's plans; Kinnear believed they failed to sign him as they couldn't guarantee first-team minutes
  • Lewis O'Brien is a midfield option on the list, but Leeds have made no official movement
  • If Angus Kinnear had to bet on transfer movement, he said he'd bet on there being little movement before now and the end of the "season" (may have meant summer transfer window); although he said he would've answered the same before the club signed Raphinha last season
  • There have been no player this season that Leeds have tried their hardest to sign, but have missed out on
  • Leeds scouts are "always on the lookout and are very good at taking opportunities when they arise"
  • Bielsa only wants players who will add to the club/squad, who fit in with the culture, and who won't destabilise the ethos
  • Leeds' transfer business hasn't been limited at all by financial constraints, the club are merely being very selective in the type of player they sign (quality, value, etc.)
  • Kinnear believes that where certain other managers would accept players offered to them for the sake of it, he believed Bielsa is significantly more picky, and turns down many more players than he wants Orta to scout further
  • Bielsa has been particularly interested in u23's players this summer
Finances/policies:

  • The Covid lockdown has cost the club between £30-60m
  • Leeds expect to sell around 300,000 shirts, where they were selling 20,000 four seasons ago
  • Leeds are on track to have the 7th highest commercial revenue in the PL, although there is still a gap to the 'big six' which they hope to close
  • He hopes that season ticket holders use the 'ticket exchange' option if they can't attend a match in order to give members more of a chance to attend matches as well as keep the atmosphere as loud as possible
  • The club's ticketing and balloting software is being upgraded for the 22/23 season in order to reduce online chaos
  • Leeds have the cheapest child's ticketing policy in the PL
  • The membership policy will be under-review- if members don't get many tickets then pricing may be changed for next season
  • From a supporter's perspective, the Leeds matchday experience should be completely normal (no obvious Covid restrictions)
Development:

  • Leeds will be trialing 1500 rail 'seats' (made for safer standing) in the north stand
  • The new pitch has cost £2m and is "a world-class playing surface"
  • Angus Kinnear found an old document saying that the previous pitch was out-of-date in 2010
  • Thorp Arch is becoming "a Premier League training ground"
  • The club believes it needs more space in order to fully develop Thorp Arch, so Leeds are considering different options to solve this issue in the future
  • Leeds hope to start the stadium expansion at the end of the 22/23 season (assuming Leeds are still in the PL)
  • Tottenham get three-times the stadium revenue per game compared to Leeds
  • Leeds now hope to expand the stadium to 60,000 rather than 55,000 (still depends on construction costs)
  • There should be no increase in general ticket prices to pay for the expansion, money will come from an increase in the number of corporate/premium seats
  • The third Leeds kit will be released early September
Socios (cryptocurrency):

  • Angus believes cryptocurrency (Socios) will be beneficial and play a significant role in football clubs in the future; Leeds are the 42nd club to have signed with Socios
  • Socios themselves have benefitted Leeds United financially (not fan money)
  • Although Socios tokens allow fan engagement, these are extremely minor things, such as songs on the players' pre-game music playlists, half-time stadium songs, and naming club training pitches (after legends etc.)
  • He believes that in six months, no fans will have issues with Socios tokens after seeing them in action
Expectations:

  • He believes that Leeds are the only club in England that could join the 'big six' in time (he didn't like using that term)
  • The club budget as if they expect to finish 17th just to be safe
  • The club's vision for is to establish themselves and remove all worries of relegation in the future
  • Success for Kinnear will be mid-table establishment (preferably top half) so he is able to say "Leeds United are back"

Iso, iso kiitos Zidanelle mahtavalle tiivistelmälle TSB:n tekemälle Kinnearin haastattelusta. I lift my hat off for You.

Yes, kiitos Zidanelle tuosta.
Mielestäni tuossa Kinnear juttelee todella paljon hyviä asioita. Seura on hyvällä tolalla, sanoisin.

Ainoa asia tuossa mistä en innostu on yhään on tuo Socios. Jotain uutta jännää kannattajien osallistamista/sitouttamista/digitalisaatiota tää nyt on mitä varmasti tämä aika tuo tullessaan. Saa nähdä miten lyö läpi vai lyökö ollenkaan.

Maailma muuttuu jatkuvasti.

Muita organisaatioita joita tuolla on mm: PSG, Barca, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan, AS Roma, Arsenal, Man City, Argentiinan ja Portugalin maajoukkueet...Alfa Romeo Racing, Aston Martin....UFC..NBA ja NFL nippuja...Esport ryhmiä jne.
