Uutta verta tulossa? Forestieri olisi varmaan hyvä vahvistus mutta ei taida Yorkshire kiinnostaa?
Fernando Forrestieri looks set to stay in the South, a move to West Yorkshire in serious doubt with the player reluctant to leave the London area. The Italian would have been a wonderful signing for the club and maybe Massimo can work some magic but it seems very unlikely at this stage, I can only hope. However just weeks after Stuart Dallas signed for the club for £1.3 million and it seemed our business was over we have again offered a very health sum of money, an extremely encouraging sign for all regarding Leeds United.
Chris Wood was a shock, I can’t lie, £3 million was well beyond my imagination. Massimo Cellino though decided he was worth the investment and put his money into the club yet again. Even the fans who are very much anti-Cellino will struggle to argue with his spending. With GFH spending money we didn’t have and Ken Bates spending no money at all we should take this summer as a new marker for the club, and one that lets us compete again in the transfer market.
Once Wood signed I thought in terms of spending that would be that. Then Dallas moved North and I was convinced we were done. However it seems we could be set for a very exciting end to a transfer window under the new regime. The Fernando Forrestieri deal isn’t dead yet, although seems very unlikely, but that £3.5 million could easily go on another player. Someone such as Anthony Limbombe. The Belgian winger is also the subject of interest from Leeds and maybe a more likely arrival. Leeds had an initial bid of £1.5 million was rejected by NEC but the players was dropped from the squad to play Ajax with the player unsettled by the interest from Leeds United.
It is my opinion that if a player is left out of a squad due to speculation that the selling club are almost expecting the player will leave in the near future. The same situation is in evidence at West Brom as Tottenham continue their pursuit of Berahino. If Leeds raise the bid for Limbombe the deal will probably be relatively smooth. The player clearly wants to come if he is unsettled. There are also rumours of a new centre-back being scouted by Glover and Pearson. I don’t think our business is over yet, and I hope it’s not. One winger is crucial for me. Byram hasn’t started the season very well and apart from Dallas we seem very light. Souleymane Doukara can’t cut it and Lee Erwin isn’t getting a chance.
If we sign one of the two mentioned I would be happy, both and I would be ecstatic. A centre-back as well? Surely not. It is set to be a busy week for the club and one we should all be very upbeat about even if the signings don’t come off. The fact we are even discussing £2/£3 million pound targets is something we haven’t seen in over a decade at the club. Enjoy it and look forward to the future at a club that seems to be on the rise. A win would be nice too!!!
