Kyllä varmasti jollekin. Stadionihan on ollut "vieraassa omistuksessa" jo jonkin aikaa, joten kyllä ne rahat menevät ihan muihin taskuihin. Ostaja oli Neitsyt-saarille rekisteröity yhtiö, joten oston takanahan voi olla jopa itse Mr Bates ...

Leeds United are to take up the option of purchasing Elland Road from the stadium's landlords once the current burden on their wage bill eases after this season.
"This is the last year of Peter Ridsdale's excesses," said the Leeds director Mark Taylor. "We are still paying wages for players like Robbie Fowler, Seth Johnson and Michael Duberry. Our financial position changes dramatically when the payments stop; half our wage bill is being spent on players who do not play for the club."
Leeds City Council has a plan to invest in a multi-purpose arena with conference and exhibition facilities and it is exploring the possibility of siting the £38m development at Elland Road. According to a council feasibility study, this would lead to up to £300m in economic benefits helping to regenerate the area and Leeds do not wish to miss out on the associated benefits.

Täytyy sanoa, että Brittiläisillä Neitsyt Saarilla on fiksuja liikemiehiä. Jostain kumman syystä en tavannut heitä käydessäni paikanpäällä siis neitsyt saarilla takavuosina eipä sen puoleen siellä varmaan ollut edes yli 18 -vuotiaita neitsyitäkään :
Eli inflaatio englannissa (Leedsissä) on aika kova. Mikäli oikein ymmärsin, niin kyseiset liikemiehet (Bates) osti stadionin 8 miljoonalla punnalla. LU:lla on takaisinostooikeus 25 vuotta ja se maksaa muuten stadionista vuosivuokraa.

Näin vakaan maailmantalouden päivinä LU:n faneja kehoitetaan ostamaan "edullisesti" Thorp Arch vaivaisella 6 miljoonalla punnalla. Näemmä Kennyn neitsyiden rahat ovat hieman vähissä, kun armeliaasti lupaavat ettei fanien tarvitse suoraan tehdä valuuttasiirtoja Karibialle.

Leedsin kaupungin isät ovat vihdoin näyttämässä vihreää valoaa Thorp Archin oston rahoitukselle. Great.
Itseäni on alkanut ihmetyttämään miksei seura hanki sitä itse. Hintahan on 6 miljoonaa ja kiinteistö itsessään on varmaan kelvollinen vakuus, koska useissa lähteissä se noteerataan paljon arvokkaammaksi. Vuosivuokra lienee puolen miljoonan luokkaa, joten niillä laina olisi lyhennetty 12 vuodessa. 5 prosentin korolla alussa maksut nousisivat 300 tuhatta per vuosi, mikä ei tunnu kovin kovalta summalta. Tulopuolellakin on sentään jotain kun ajattelee esimerkiksi Delphin myyntiä ja liigan korkeimpia lipun hintoja. En tiedä ovatko nämä "pesänselvitykset" vaikuttaneet näihin rahoituskuvioihin jolloin tapaa, jostain muistaisin lukeneeni sen suuntaisen kommentin.

LEEDS United has received a major boost when senior councillors voted to buy their Thorp Arch training ground.
With time running out on a £6m buyback option, the city council's executive board agreed a deal under which the council would borrow money to buy the facility and rent it back to United.
It will be leased to the club for a fixed period at the end of which the club can buy it from the council.
United sold Thorp Arch to Manchester businessman Jacob Adler in 2004 at the height of their financial problems. They were given a 25-year lease and the option to repurchase.
With that option due to expire on October 10 and United unable to raise the money, the club turned to the council for help.
Executive board members last month rejected the loan idea but have now decided to buy and lease Thorp Arch to United on commercial terms.
The decision – taken after lengthy discussions with press and public excluded – follows examination by council officials of the club's bank statements, accounts, cash flows and financial forecasts.
After the meeting council deputy leader Coun Andrew Carter said: "We are going to continue discussions with the club. We have formulated an offer which we are going to make to them. We obviously want to help if we can."
He said the rent the club paid would cover the council's loan repayments.
He said it had been made clear there was no possibility of the council lending United the £6m and added: "Anything we do must be at no cost to the council tax payer and minimum risk to the council."
Officials will now negotiate details of the offer with the club before submitting it to Coun Carter, council leader Coun Richard Brett, Labour group leader Coun Keith Wakefield and Morley Borough Independent leader Coun Robert Finnigan.
A condition of the deal will be United agreeing to support a range of "football in the community" initiatives.
Leeds United chief executive Shaun Harvey said: "We are delighted to learn that the council wishes to offer us support and we now look forward to continuing discussions to bring this matter to a successful conclusion."

Kyllähän tämä on hyvä homma ... pikkuhiljaa päästäisiin kiinni näihin seuran "perusomaisuuksiin". Jo jonkin aikaa kuitenkin on käsittääkseni seura tehnyt plus-merkkistä tulosta eli ns. operatiivinen toiminta on jollainlailla kuosissa.
